A BLOG…ABOUT BLOGGING!

Much like Cosmo Kramer’s Coffee Table book about coffee tables, today, I’d like to toss out the idea of writing a blog to help your business during the recession.

Why write a blog?

How about to get your company’s website higher on search engine lists? Search engines like Google and Yahoo really like “changing” websites vs. “static” websites, and by writing a periodic blog and linking it to your website, you may be able to improve your company’s standing in search results.

Maybe you have something helpful or interesting to relate to your “constituency” (ie, your clients, your business associates, your bosses, etc.) that will add to your good will?

How to go take the plunge?

Do some research on line about blog-writing…trust me, there is a plethora of information out there. I found www.frugalmarketing.com/dtb/killer-blog-posts.shtml to be extremely helpful. If your blog is to generate good will for yourself and/or your company or organization, be cautious about editorializing too much, or discussing controversial topics. Always keep your goal in mind, and it should be easy to stay on topic.

Also, if possible, ask a friend, family member, business associate, or trusted advisor to proofread your blog before you post it…remember, once it goes up online, it’s hard to take back!

WordPress.com is a great and handy site on which you can rely for your blogging, so what are you waiting for? I’m sure you are just brimming with good ideas already!
