Doesn’t Remind Me

Do you spend time living in the past, thinking of decisions and opportunities and sinking with regret?

Regret is a very powerful, often debilitating emotion. With very few exceptions, it is also a wasteful, indulgent and pointless use of your time.grateful

Wouldn’t your time be better spent fully living in the moment, giving some thought to the future, and maximizing your limited time, rather than wallowing in the past?

Are there people, places, thoughts you know, see or have that throw you into the past and those regretful feelings? If so, AVOID THEM! Why subject yourself to something you know will catapult you into those negative areas?

I am not advocating NOT LEARNING FROM PAST MISTAKES. To the contrary, as you become aware that perhaps you made an error in judgment, the wrong decision, or even handled something badly, make a mental note and try to do better in the future.

Regret is tied into so many negative emotions: anger, sadness, loss, loneliness. Don’t torture yourself! Count the positives in your life, down to the fact that you got out of bed this morning! Be grateful for the friends, family and coworkers you do have, and don’t remind yourself of what you don’t have.

Each day is an opportunity to do better than yesterday, and thus diminish your regrets. Take some advice from Audioslave:
