Play That Joyful Noise!

If you are down, feeling defeated, worried and anxious, basically in the dumps, what is the best thing to do to lift yourself up?

LISTEN TO YOUR FAVORITE MUSIC!

Studies show that listening to music, really any kind of music, improves your mood! http://www.webmd.com/mental-health/news/20031022/music-improves-mood

These days, with smart phones, satellite radio, Pandora, Spotify and iTunes, you can literally be surrounded by music all day long. Even if your office environment isn’t conducive to having music playing at your desk, maybe you can use earbuds or your Beats headphones?

How about listening to the music in your own head? Try to recreate your favorite song in your mind and see if it doesn’t lift your mood.

Music has a certain universal quality we all relate to on many different levels, often evoking feelings and emotions tied up with long ago events.

Let the feeling that music brings transport you from your momentary sadness, anger, stress or worry. Allow it into your heart and mind, to permeate every cell and work its magic to elevate your mood. Keep your favorite songs, singers and groups queued up so you can turn to them when you need them.

Nobody asked me, but in case you were wondering, some of my favorites are The Allman Brothers, The Dave Matthews Band, The Tedeschi Trucks Band, The John Butler Trio, Eric Clapton, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Gov’t Mule, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stone Temple Pilots, Trombone Shorty, and Robert Randolph and the Family Band.
