REUNITED AND IT FEELS SO GOOD

You may or may not know, but I have two printing companies: Curry Printing and Copy Cat Printing.

Curry Printing was my family’s business, and Copy Cat Printing was an acquisition of a then-failing small commercial printer I made back in 2004. I have kept the companies as separate entities. Until now.

There are a few benefits to having two almost identical companies: cross-trained staff for vacation times, duplication (no pun intended!) of equipment for extra busy times, or when machines are down for service, and a built in petri dish for when we conduct experiments with online and other advertising methods.

The downsides, however, have grown, in both number and importance, over the years. Having to do everything twice (pay bills, payroll, insurance, rent, utilities are a few examples) isn’t efficient. Not being able to spend as much time at both places as I would like has been a thorn in my side. Production issues are very inefficiently handled when assets are spread over multiple locations.

And I’m tired of having two full time jobs. There, I’ve admitted I’m a mere human and not a business-running machine.

So we’re getting the band back together! Everyone is moving into our downtown space at Curry Printing, 314 North Charles Street, in Baltimore City. We’ll have all the cool, best equipment, the fantastic staff, and all the combined records. It’ll be like peanut butter cups, 2 great companies that go great together.

The merge has been a process, like trying to manufacture a zipper by hand, so every little tooth meshes together, but at the end of the day (more precisely, the end of 2017), we will officially be fused as one company, still to be known as Curry Printing & Copy Center. But in honor of our Copy Cat brothers and sisters that were, we’ve still got Cat Class and Cat Style.

About the author

I am a third generation printer, and a second generation owner of Curry Printing. Ink (pms 185!) must run through my veins! As a "working owner," I am at Curry every day, working in and on my business. The old adage is true...if you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life!
