Let a Sparkling Smile be Your Superpower

There is a superpower that we all have easy access to every waking moment. Your shining smile. No, really, I mean it. People who smile more often really do rule the world. Smiling improves your health by lowering your stress, releasing endorphins, lowering your blood pressure, and gives a boost to your productivity. Researchers have even found a link between smiling and longevity. And who wouldn’t want to live a long life if you’re going to be so darned happy!

I have a concrete example of how smiling may actually enhance your employment opportunities.

Recently, we were interviewing for a new marketing intern here at Curry Printing. The position is an excellent one for the right person, if I do say so myself. Because we pay a relatively high hourly rate for our internship (many of which are unpaid), and we offer flexible hours, we usually have many qualified candidates from whom to choose.

This time, the choice was easy. One candidate stood out above the rest. Like many of the applicants, she was qualified for the position, intelligent, motivated, interested, and did her homework on our printing company. How did she earn the position over the rest?

It was her infectious, sincere and joyous smile.

I’m serious. That smile was the deciding factor. See how important it is to smile?

And click on this link to hear a classic song about smiles, and I’ll bet the photo on the link will make you smile, too!
